Consumer Behaviour

Living in excess,

Give me more so I can explore this stressfest,

Moneys lower than before but I gotta keep up,

With the kardashians as they implore us to seek more lust.

We fight,

We fuss,

We lose trust in the only things that should make sense to us,

It’s an uphill battle just to have the same outcome.

I say I won’t give in but I’m a walking contradiction,

Buying in to capitalism as if it's the solution,

Seeking the next marketing scheme to justify the newest thing,

When it's just a pyramid scheme coated in shiny bling.

Who am I pleasing?

Life's more expensive but my purchasing habits are freeing,

Thousands of dollars on gold make me a different being,

Feeling tied to these sales to get my mind off the glass ceiling.

This illusion is blinding,

But since we're here,

I'll buy more for my self esteem,

And watch funds disappear.
